Heart Break

Our cat has taken a "lover".

Kidding. As far as we know they are just "friends".

Toby and Brenda have a cat. His name is Mike and he is "part dog".

Kidding again. As far as we know he is "all cat".

Anywho...Milli and Mike have taken a liking to each other since we "moved in". It took some time and some persistence on Mike's part, but he finally won Milli "over".
And just the other day we caught them "holding paws".
Yup. "Holding paws".

You can click on the photo to make it "bigger".
We don't know what they're gonna do when we "move out". I'm sure we're gonna have to have "play dates" with them. I just hope Milli isn't too "heartbroken".
=)

Naughty Cat

Yesterday was Bear's 10th birthday. He'll be here tomorrow to tell you all about it. What I'm here to tell you about is our cat.

Naughty, naughty cat.

Last night some friends came over to help us celebrate Bear's 10th year. As they were coming in the door, Millicent Pearl ran out.

Into the dark.

Into the dark wooded lot.

Into the dark, cold, wooded lot.

We spent some time looking for her with flashlights and we left the garage door open as long as we could.

I hoped for her safe return. Her previous owner had her as an indoor/outdoor cat so she was familiar with the outside. But we had her declawed one week after getting her and she has been indoors since. Plus, this is all new area and it was gonna be below freezing during the night.

Luckily, at 3:30 am Brenda heard meowing outside her bedroom window. After waking up enought to realize what it was, she opened the window and let Milli in. She also carried Milli (to help warm her up) out to the food and litter and made sure there was food and water.

When I woke this morning I was told that we only get one 3:30 am rescue. :) Next time, it's on us.

After loving on Milli for a bit (she was camped out on the couch) we went on about our business. Until Husband noticed her limping. And as I watched her I saw it too. An obvious limp on her back right leg.

Thinking she might have a splinter or thorn in her foot I picked her up to check things out. What I found instead was a gash about an inch and a half long.

We have doctored her up best we can and now are just waiting. She seems to be resting well enough. Hopefully nothing will get infected and she will be ok without having to involve the vet.

I keep telling her, "This is why we don't let you outside. I hope you've learned your lesson."

I'm sure she understands. The annoyed look on her face tells me so.

Milli and Friends

More evidence that our cat thinks she's a stuffed animal.

Meet Millicent Pearl

We got a cat on Tuesday. Her name is Millicent Pearl.
We decided on Millicent Pearl (Milli for short) for two reasons. 1. She has an M on her forehead so we wanted a name that started with M and 2. our dog is named Georgia Diamond (Gigi for short) and we wanted a name that fit with it.
Our friend said it sounded like we had two old ladies living with us. =) The more we are around her the more determined we are that Millicent fits her name perfectly. She tolerates Hubs and I, but loves the kids. She wants to be where ever they are. Wednesday night we shut all the kid's bedroom doors bc Milli kept jumping on the beds and bothering them. She slept under Hubs and my bed and cried for her kids all night long. She didn't come out from under our bed till the kids got up then she spent the morning in the kitchen with them.
Milli and Gigi aren't on speaking terms yet. Milli hides under Bear's bed while Gigi is in the house and growls at Gigi any time she dares come in to Bear and Popeye's room. Wednesday Gigi felt the need to check on her kids and the intruder every few minutes, but yesterday she didn't seem to really care. She checked on Milli a few times but mostly spent her time wherever I was.
The kids love Milli and keep telling us how much they love having a cat. I guess we're gonna have to change our 'about' section of the blog now.
