Hair Cut!

We went grocery shopping this morning. I prefer going in the early morning when there are fewer people and less waiting. On our way out we stopped at the hair salon in the Walmarts and got Princess' hair cut. I'd been threatening to do it for a while. The nightly brushouts and crazy hair days were becoming too much. Princess was/is thrilled.

She is even acting older. Or maybe it's just me.

You can see the before hair here because this was totally spur of the moment and mama didn't have her camera.

Tents

Sorry about the blurry photos. This is how the kids spent yesterday morning. My only rule was that the tents had to stay in the bedrooms.

Occasionally I will let them make their tents in the living room. But only occasionally and not when we are having guests over in the afternoon.

Bear was the one who started the tent making. Then everyone else wanted one too.

I think Bobo's was the biggest and the softest. =)

Undeterred

It's raining today. But that hasn't stopped him. After he was done riding his bike he took the dog for a walk.

26 Years

Twenty-six years ago today my Dad became my Dad. Not in a hospital room (I'm the big 3-0, remember?), but in a court room. These are the flowers he sent me today to remember.

Here's a reminder of how I feel about it.

I love you, Dad!

Horseback Riding

We went horseback riding on Saturday. Some extended family was down visiting from Minnesota and we thought, "What better way for someone to experience Oklahoma than on horses." However, I'm not including any pictures of them bc I didn't ask if they minded. And us southerners are nothing if not polite like that.
Princess and Price. Best cousins. They are six months apart and so cute together. Waiting for their horses.
Popeye and Hubs. Waiting too. And, yes, he made that face on purpose. Silly guy.

Bear and Bobo waiting. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long.

I know this pic is kinda far away. Mom was taking it, and she isn't familiar with my camera. She did get some other ones closer up. This one was just the best one of all three of us. Me, Princess, and Blackjack. Our horse.
This one is better of Princess but you can't really see Blackjack.

Popeye and Hubs on Magic.

Bobo on Honey.
Bear on Sisco.
Not much horse drama thank goodness. Just a nice stroll down the trail. And then to complete the experience we went out for bar-b-que. I just love the south!
Love,

More Nana

My cousin, Whitney, over at Tales of a Domestic Diva wrote a beautiful post of some of her memories of Nana. Because us cousins grew up in the same town doing most everything together we have many of the same memories.

I would like to share a personal memory here on my blog, but please check out Whitney's post. It's great.

During the beginning of the second semester of my freshman year in college I found out I was pregnant. I was about to turn 19.

I grew up in a christian home, as did my parents. So my disobedience was very disappointing. Some responded with grace and others did eventually. However, my Nana's response is the one I remember the most.

I had driven the 2 1/2 hrs to her house for the weekend. The night I arrived I was sitting in bed in the blue room (family will understand) and Nana was sitting on the bed with me. My words to Nana were, "Nana, there is something I have to tell you. I'm gonna have a baby." Her first response was to rush to the bathroom, lean against the counter and repeat "Oh, Dear Lord." over and over. But then, after a few seconds, she returned to the bedroom, made sure it was RC's baby too, then took my hands and prayed with me. She hugged me and kissed me and told me she loved me and RC and our baby.

The next morning while Papa and I ate our eggs, bacon, and toast, Nana told Papa that I was gonna have a baby. She didn't hide it, nor was there any shame in her voice. Papa just said, "Really?" and then went on eating.

Nana holds a very special place in my heart because I held a very special place in hers. The amazing thing about Nana is that every single one of us blessed to be part of her family and friends can say that. Each one of us held a very special place in her heart and a had our own special relationship with her.

Nana loved like few others.

They Are Blooming!!!

We have our first two sunflowers!!!

This is the big one.

And this is the little one.

So beautiful.

I talked hubs into standing in front of the flowers for me so you could see how ridiculously tall they are. Taller than our fence.

Because of the way the flowers are situated it looks like they are looking at RC. So he decided to look back.

My man. Hot stuff. My sunflowers. Being eaten by something.
Love,
Bridget
