Sugar Cubes

One of my favorite movies is The Importance of Being Earnest. Seriously, rent it. I'm convinced you will love it too. In one scene, a woman requests no sugar in her tea and the other woman places four sugar cubes in it anyway. =) Hehe.

Anywho, one of our Bible lesson activities included sugar cubes and you know what? The Walmarts didn't have any! None! And not because they were out. Because they don't carry them! Oh, how far we have gotten from 19th century England.

Luckily, we found some at the United.

Our Bible lesson came from Luke 14. Jesus is telling people to count the cost of being His disciple. You don't build a house without first making sure you have enough money to finish it, and you don't go to war without first making sure you can win.

So I paired Bobo and Princess together and Popeye and Bear together. Then I asked Bobo how many sugar cubes he needed. His reply, "70". I asked Bear the same question and he chose 50.

This worked to my advantage greatly. Here is a pic of Bear and Popeye's first try.

Notice it is missing a roof. Because of this, we were able to further discuss counting the cost. So, they started over.

Bobo and Princess got a complete house the first time. With a chimney and everything.

Here is the second go around. Happily complete.

Sugar cube houses. Held together with hot glue.
Yummy!
